Landscape and civil designs conflict when both assign the same space or elevation to incompatible functions. Typical pressure points are tree roots and pipes, soil depth and underground storage, paths and drainage swales, or planting beds and major flow routes.
Shared geometry
Civil plans establish grades, service corridors, catchbasins, storage and access for maintenance. Landscape plans establish planting, soil volumes, furnishings, fences and public routes. A tree shown over a sewer or a level plaza placed across a drainage path may look acceptable on separate sheets but fail when the files are overlaid.
